Course Description:

Diagnostic-quality dental x-rays are crucial for identifying dental decay, monitoring periodontal bone health, confirming margins, and detecting specific types of oral cancers. High-quality x-rays are indispensable; however, many dentists are “dia-guessing” rather than diagnosing due to poor image quality. Issues like foreshortening, elongation, missing apices, and closed contacts can hinder the accurate identification of these conditions. Let’s explore these errors together, identify their causes, and most importantly, offer solutions. This course is packed with instruction, helpful diagrams, clinical examples, and video demonstrations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize typical radiographic mistakes and determine solutions for them.
  • Grasp the impact of Shadow Casting principles on image quality.
  • Differentiate between Paralleling and Bisecting techniques and choose the appropriate method for different situations.
  • Discover methods for capturing improved bitewing images.
