Mandatory Prescriber DEA Education Renewal for Licensed Dentists - Part II

CE Credits: 4 Hour Lecture | Subject: Prescription Medication Management | Recommended for: Dentists
Prescribers licensed to treat humans and who have a DEA registration number to prescribe controlled substance or who prescribe controlled substances under a facility DEA registration number, must complete a one-time (8) hours of work or training in pain management, palliative care, and addiction beginning on or after June 27, 2023.
These courses cover the material needed to satisfy the Federal Mandated Pain Management, Palliative Care and Addiction Education requirements as well as can be applied towards other state requirements. They are designed for all prescribers of controlled substances. Through literature reviews, case studies and professional experience you will understand your role in combating the current opioid epidemic.
Learning Objectives:
- Review state and federal requirements for prescribing controlled substances.
- Establish a pain management plan for your office.
- Utilize appropriate prescribing practices.
- Manage acute pain.
- Palliative medicine, medical marijuana, and CBD.
- Prevention, screening, and signs of addiction.
- Responses to abuse and addiction.
- End of life care.
Notes: Participants may register to attend Part I and/or Part II depending on hours needed to satisfy the new requirement. Material covered will vary each day. Also recommended for participants who desire additional training in this subject area.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Marc M. Gottlieb was born and raised on Long Island. After graduation from Lindenhurst H.S., he attended Union College in Schenectady, New York. He graduated with thesis honors in biology and then shuffled off to Buffalo. While at the University of Buffalo he received many academic scholarships, awards and fellowships. After graduation from dental school Dr. Gottlieb went on to a two-year post-graduate residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. At the Medical Center he received advanced training in dental anesthesiology and all the specialties of dentistry. That included but was not limited to advanced training in Root Canals, Oral Surgery, Dentures, and Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a leading authority in I.V. (intravenous) and Oral Sedation. Dr. Gottlieb is currently on staff at Stony Brook University Hospital and recently awarded one the top providers of Continuing Education in Dentistry Today. Financial Relationship – none reported.
