Course Description:

Adhesive dentistry has transformed restorative treatment from mechanical retention to biologically driven, minimally invasive care. Yet with evolving bonding chemistries, universal adhesives, self-etch versus total-etch protocols, new restorative materials, and many curing light options, clinicians often face confusion about what truly works—and why.

There is also a growing body of research that shows thermally activating/warming restoratives provides significant advantages.  Warming composite materials provide benefit in both placement and long term clinical success.

This course provides a practical, evidence-based review of contemporary bonded dentistry, focusing on dentin adhesion, enamel bonding strategies, material selection, and curing to create predictable clinical results. Attendees will gain clarity on materials as well as the benefits of using composite warming protocols.

Learning Objectives:

• Differentiate current adhesive strategies (total-etch, self-etch, and universal systems) and explain the mechanisms by which they bond to enamel and dentin
• Select appropriate mechanisms to achieve long term patient outcomes
• Implement evidence-based techniques to improve bond durability, reduce sensitivity, and minimize restoration failure in direct and indirect restorations

About the Speaker:

Dr. John Flucke is in private practice in Lee’s Summit, Missouri where he spends four days per week in direct patient care.  He also serves as Technology Editor for Dental Products Report magazine as well as Chief Dental Editor where he writes, edits, and does video demos of products featured in his “Technology Evangelist” columns.
